Bernard A. Bernie Duddy, 91, of Allentown, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 in Hospice House VNA St. Lukes in Bethlehem. Bernard was the husband of the late Isabel K. (Buckley) Duddy who passed in 1986, and the late Frances (Tallarida) Duddy who passed in 2002. Born in Reading, PA, Bernard was a son of the late Patrick J. and Mary J. (Morris) Duddy. Bernard worked as a Chief Clerk for the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. in the Saucon Shape Mills for 43 years prior to retiring in 1982. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during WWII serving in the Pacific Theatre. Bernard was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Allentown, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Men of St. Francis. He was a former Eucharistic Minister at Lehigh Valley Hospital for 20 years, and worked at the Ecumenical Soup Kitchen for 20 years. He was a member of the Serra Club of Allentown. Survivors: Surviving is his son, Kevin B. in Trenton, NJ; and daughters, Ann S. wife of Richard Mertz, Joan wife of Robert Webre, Kathleen Kane, Mary wife of Tony Calcagni all of Allentown, and Patricia Burnett of Bethlehem; a sister, Rosemary McFadden of Allentown; Bernard has 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Rev. Patrick A., Robert T., William J., and Charles V. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi. Calling will be on Tuesday from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. in the church.
