Bruce A. Kemmerer
Bruce A. Bud Kemmerer, 78 of Allentown, formerly of Slatington, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at the Inpatient Hospice Unit, Allentown. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Shoemaker) Kemmerer, they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this past March. Born in Bowmanstown, he was the son of the late Reuben Kemmerer. He was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean War. Bruce was a graduate of East Stroudsburg State Teachers College with a degree in Health & Physical Education and worked as a teacher for Northwestern Lehigh HS until retiring in 1989. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Allentown and a former member of St. Johns UCC, Slatington where he served as a past consistory president. Bruce was a former PIAA official for football and basketball and was inducted in the Northern Lehigh HS Ring of Honor in 2012. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 16, Slatington. Survivors: Wife; mother, Kathryn (Jones) Kemmerer of Florida; and son, Bruce A. Kemmerer II and wife Mary of New Tripoli; daughters, Kim K. and husband Stephen Wisocky of Allentown, Vicky K. and husband Raymond Wade of Ohio; grandchildren, Jared and Peter Wisocky, Andrew, Daniel, Nathan, Christopher, Meghan, Benjamin and Adam Wade, Emma, Abby and Reuben Kemmerer; brother, Robert Kemmerer and wife Polly of Allentown; sisters, Janet LeVan of Slatington, Betty Lou and husband Lewis Rauch of Florida; nieces and nephews. Services: 11 a.m., at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Rd., Allentown, PA. Visit with the family from 1 to 2 p.m., at the church.
