Carl R. Easterday
Carl R. Easterday, 80, of Lehighton passed away on his birthday, Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. He was the husband of Ethel (Hamersly) Easterday for 34 years. Born January 23, 1934 in Emerald he was the son of the late Claude and Rosie (Roberts) Paules.Carl was a Korean War veteran, serving in the Air Force from 1953 to 1966 and the Air Force reserves from 1966 to 1990. Following his service he worked in the maintenance department at American Nickeloid Company in Walnutport for 27 years, retiring in 1998. He was of Lutheran Faith. Carl loved gardening, cooking, going to yard sales and making wine for friends and family. Survivors: He is survived by his wife; sons, Randy husband of Nancy of Northampton, Scott husband of Lucy of Lehighton, Chris husband of Wendy of Florida and Ryan husband of Rebecca of Tamaqua; daughter, Joann wife of Terry Frey of Lehighton; step-son, Robert Hamersly of Florida; brother, Timothy Paules husband of Carolyn of Slatington; sister, Bonnie Abraham of Bowmanstown; grandchildren, David, Josh and Cassidy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeff; and brothers, Forest and Leonard. Services: Funeral Service Monday, January 27 at 11 a.m. at Schaeffer Funeral Home, 3rd and Alum Streets, Lehighton with Reverend Anthony Pagotto officiating, Committal service with Military Honors under the direction of the Lehighton UVO to follow at Lehighton Cemetery.
