David MacLean
David R. MacLean died early Saturday morning, December 21, 2013, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT due to complications from ALS. He was born May 25, 1941 in Allentown, PA, the son of the late Pearl Laura (Hartman) and Chester Curtis MacLean. He was predeceased by his brother, Barry. David graduated from Allentown High School. David served for 6 years in the U.S. Navy submarine service, and traveled the world. He moved to Vermont to work for IBM, retiring after 25 years. David enjoyed creating wonderful pieces of furniture for his home. He was an avid collector of weather data for most of his life, and had an official weather station at his former home in Waterbury, VT. He had a passion for dogs, especially his basset hound, Cleo. After being diagnosed with ALS, he was unable to pursue his many interests. Survivors: He was the beloved husband of Murphy S. (Brunelle) MacLean, with whom he shared his life for the past 24 years. He is also survived by a son, Kevin, of Waterbury Center; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and London Wofford of Colchester, VT; a stepdaughter, Kathie (Mrs. John) Burnett and her children; a sister, Bonnie Lee MacLean, of Dover, NH; and two nephews, Michael and Christopher Ruby. He was much loved and admired for his great heart and spirit. He will be dearly missed. Services: At Davids request, there will be no funeral service. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. at the Ready Funeral & Cremation Service Mountain View Chapel, 68 Pinecrest Drive, Essex Junction, VT.
