Francis J. Maurer
Francis J. Fritz Maurer, 82, of Bethlehem, died Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Westminster Village in Allentown. He was the husband of Jean (Ryan) Maurer for 57 years. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Michael and Barbara (Tangel) Maurer. Fritz honorably served his country in the Army, during the Korean War. He worked as a assistant manager for the Saucon Valley Country Club and also as a manager in the food service department for the Bethlehem Steel for many years, until retiring. He was a member of Church of the Assumption of the BVM in Bethlehem, where he was very active, and served as a Eucharistic minister. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Jean; are daughter, Barbara Maurer and her husband, Daniel Gross, of Malvern; son, Michael Maurer and his wife, Penny, of Quakertown; grandchildren, Jack Schlaner, Erik, Evan, and Bridget Gross, Michael and Samantha Maurer; sister, Ann Persa; brother, Michael Maurer and his wife, Rita, all of Bethlehem. He was predeceased by his son, Matthew; and daughter, Sharon. Services: 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2013, a Mass of Christian burial will be held in Church of the Assumption of the BVM, 4101 Old Bethlehem Pike, Bethlehem, PA 18015. The burial will be private.
