Harry F. Smith Obituary
Smith, Harry F.Harry F. Smith, 83, of Orefield, formerly of Kempton, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 in his home. He was the husband of Margaret A. (Mitchell) Smith. The couple celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary last December 7. Born in New Tripoli, April 19, 1931, Harry was the son of the late Norman J. and Luella (Reppert) Smith. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during a post Korean War era. He was employed as a truck driver for Roadway Express in Allentown for 30 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of Jordan Evangelical Lutheran Church, Orefield where he formerly served on the council. He was a former member of Friedens Church, Stony Run, where he formerly served as the Treasurer and sang with the choir. Survivors: In addition to his wife; children, Ernest G. Smith and his wife, Gail of Orefield, Francis H. Smith and his wife, Diane Levy of Emmaus, Jeffrey C. Smith and his companion, Diane Lamb of New Tripoli, Stephanie A. Phelps, and her husband, John of Buda, TX; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; predeceased by siblings, Marlowe Smith and Doreen Miller. Services: Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2014 at Jordan Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5103 Snowdrift Road, Orefield with the Rev. Jerel W. Gade officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
