James V. Brong
James V. Brong, 71, of Coopersburg, PA died Saturday, December 14, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem, PA. Born in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Dr. George and Mildred (McKay) Brong. He was the husband of Kathryn A. (Cannon) Brong, with whom he celebrated 44 years of marriage this past August 9, 2013. He was a graduate of Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences, earning his bachelors degree in Accounting; he then continued his education at Wilkes University, earning his M.B.A. degree in Accounting. James worked as a project accountant for Fuller Co. later known as FL Smidth of Bethlehem for 20 years before retiring in 2003. He served his country as a CT3 in the Navy from 1964 until 1968 on the USS Liberty, which was assaulted and he waswounded, earning him a purple heart. James was a former member of the Northampton Liederkrantz Mens Wed. Night Bowling League. He was a former member of St. Johns U.C.C. Church Choir, Hellertown, PA. James and his wife enjoyed every weekend traveling, taking in nature with eagle or bird watching, ocean scapes, and shore point visits. Survivors: Surviving along with his wife, Kathryn; are two daughters, Allison R., wife of Travis Smith, of East Greenville, PA, Elizabeth A. Brong of Coopersburg, PA; a sister, Constance, wife of Kenneth Butz, of Nazareth, PA. Services: Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, December 20, 2013, at Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, 211 E. Center Street, Nazareth, PA 18064. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013, and Friday, December 20, 2013, 9 to 10 a.m., prior to the services. Interment with military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth, PA. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.schislerfuneralhomes.com.
