Jan K. Anewalt, 74, of Avenue A, Palmerton, died early New Years Day morning January 1, 2013, at Forest Inn, Towamensing Twp. Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Clayton and Mamie (Weida) Anewalt. Jan worked as a labor leader in the beam yard at the former Bethlehem Steel Corp., for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. A proud US Marine Corps Veteran, he served during peacetime, achieved rank of LCpl. Jan was an avid dog enthusiast, he trained doberman pinschers, won several obediance competitions over the years and coud be seen walking them in Palmerton. A recreational pilot and motorcyclist, he flew vintage aircraft out of the Slatington airport. Survivors: Son, Kyle B. and wife Erin Anewalt of Lewistown, Mifflin County; two granddaughters, Haily Peanut and Chelsea; sister, Betty wife of Joseph Gall of Camp Hill; brother, Norwood of Forest Inn; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers, Charlie, Paul and Clyde. Services: Graveside Services with Military Honors, 11 a.m. Monday, Towamensing Cemetery, 3rd St. and Fireline Rd., Palmerton.
