John Barry Kernick, 66, of Upper Saucon Twp., died of natural causes while hunting on Thursday, October 25, 2012. Hunting was one of his true passions in life. He was the husband of Dolly C. (Szep) Kernick. The couple celebrated 43 years of marriage on October 25. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late John and Veronica (Lizun) Kernick. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Limeport and was a Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Upper Saucon Twp., in the Water and Sewage Department, for nine years before retiring in 2011. Previously he worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corp, in the Ingot Mould Foundry, for 31 years until the plant closed in 1995. He was a member of the Lower Milford Twp. Buck Club, the Zionsville Community Fish & Game Assn. and was an avid golfer in the Coke Plant Golf League at Wedgewood Golf Course. John loved spending time with his family, most especially his time with his precious grandchildren, Nicholas and Caitlin. Survivors: Wife; son, Christopher J. Kernick and his wife Danielle of Andreas, PA; brothers, James, Joseph, Michael, Timothy and Thomas Kernick; sister, Patricia Smith; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Caitlin Kernick; and numerous members of his extended family, including in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Services: 9:30 a.m. Friday, Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus, followed by Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m., St. Joseph Catholic Church, Limeport.
