John Hewko
John Hewko, 89, of Northampton, died September 26 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. Born February 19, 1924 in Northampton, he was the son of the late Aksenty and Anna (Brodetsky) Hewko. John retired from Western Electric after 24 years of service. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #4714. John was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Northampton. Survivors: Brother, Wasyl Hewko and his wife Elaine of Northampton; sister, Stephanie Nederostek of Northampton; many nieces and nephews; as well as great-nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by sisters, Pauline Woyewoda, Mary Lorenz and Olga Sokalsky; brothers, Alex Hewko, Benjamin Hewko and Peter Hewko. Services: A Burial service will be Monday, September 30 at 10 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st Street, Northampton. Family and friends may call Monday, 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery. Online condolences may be submitted at www.reichelfuneralhome.com.
