John Shivek, 95, of Bethlehem, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, in his home. He was the husband of the late Helen (Hrivnak) Shivek, who died in 1995. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Joseph and Eva (Borda) Shivek Toth and a stepson of the late Alex Toth. He served the City of Bethlehem as a police officer for 30 years until retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Zion First Hungarian Lutheran Church in Bethlehem. Survivors: His daughters, Marlene Miller, of Bethlehem and Eileen Sunday, of Center Valley; son, John Shivek and his wife, Beverly, of Slatington; step sisters, Erma Nagy, Irene Donchez, Helen Opit, and Mary Fox; and a step brother, Frank Toth; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A daughter, Kathleen Volkmann, died earlier in 1993. Services: Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 9, in the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
