Smith, Karle M.Karle M. Smith, 81, of Walnutport, formerly of Lehigh Township, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the Muhlenberg Campus of Lehigh Valley Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Delores M. (Acker) Smith with whom he shared 61 years of marriage on May 30th. Born in Stemlersville on June 30, 1933, he was a son of the late Clarence Sr. and Annie (Gangawere) Smith. Karle honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local #773, Allentown, and was employed by Matlack Trucking Co. and Keystone Cement where he worked as a truck driver for nearly 30 years before retiring. After retiring, Karle worked for Woodstone Country Club, Danielsville for 12 years. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Cherryville as well as a life-member of the Opplinger-Hower American Legion Post 899, Walnutport. Karle enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, and he loved golfing. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Delores, he is survived by his children, Dennis K. Smith and his wife, Donna of Palmerton, Gregory A. Smith and his fiancée, Sharon of Walnutport, and Deborah A. Corpora and her fiancé, Gene of Whitehall; seven (7) grandchildren; five (5) great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry Smith and his wife, Roberta of Pennsylvania; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four (4) brothers, Sterling, Clarence Jr., Henry and Marvin. Services: will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. in the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Inc., 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, Village of Moorestown - Bath, PA 18014. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday morning from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will follow in New Hope Cemetery at Little Moore, Danielsville. Contributions: in memory of Karle may be made to the , 968 Postal Road, Suite 110, Allentown, PA 18109.
