Kenneth Helm
Kenneth S. Helm, 88, of Williams Township, PA, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 in New Eastwood. Born August 4, 1925, in Williams Township, he was a son of the late Earie C. and Mabel Kiefer Helm. His wife of 60 years, the former Dorothy Balliet, passed away February 26, 2008. Ken and his late brother, Earie, co-owned and operated Helm Brothers Garage for 40 years. He was last employed by Dieter Brothers Fuel Company, formerly Walters Oil. He served with the Army during WWII, seeing action in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded a Purple Heart. Ken was an avid hunter, enjoyed snowmobiling and antique cars. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Williams Township. Ken was a life member of Order of Fleas and Citizens Hose Company and a member of Williams Township Sportmans Club and the Williams Township Fire Company where he had served on the Fire Police years ago. Survivors: A son, Kenneth D.; a sister-in-law, Mildred Frey; many nieces and nephews including a niece, Sandra Hulbert and two nephews, Jack Helm and Robert Paul Helm, all of Williams Township; four grandchildren, Christopher Ponce and his wife Brenda, Edward Ponce and his wife Susan, Mary Wiseburn and her husband Jack and Betty Mae Planer and her husband Rick; 13 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Services: Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 17 in St. Johns Union Cemetery, 2745 Morgan Hill Rd., Williams Township.
