Lawrence G. Shea
Lawrence G. Shea, Sr., 85, of Fountain Hill, died on Friday, February 15, 2013. He was born October 1, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA; son of the late Lawrence and Mary (Foster) Shea. Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Alma M. (Dapp) Shea. Larry proudly retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years. He served during WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Larry also retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corp. as a hydraulic engineer in 1990 after 20 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. Ursula Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. Larry was also a member of the former Steel Club and current Silver Creek Country Club, the Fountain Hill Golden Hillers, and the Goodfellows Club. Larry had a passion for basketball as a player, coach, and spectator, and was an avid golfer to the end. He enjoyed his morning workouts with his friends at the Bethlehem YMCA. Larry also had a great love of the Lord. Most importantly, Larry looked forward to spending time with this children and grandchildren. Survivors: He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife; sons, Lawrence G. Shea, Jr. and his wife, Debbi, of Bethlehem; son, Joseph and his wife, Karen, of Danielsville; daughter, Mary Majewski and her husband, John, of Bethlehem Twp.; daughter, Anne Marie John and her husband, Skip, of Bethlehem; and his son, Patrick and his fiance, Kristin, of Bend, Oregon; as well as his 12 grandchildren, Amber, Colin, Coleen, Sean, Stephen, Laura, Andrew, Kathryn, Maria, Skip, David, and Amy; and eight great-grandchildren. Services: A visitation will be held at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. at St. Ursula Catholic Church, 1300 Broadway, Fountain Hill, PA 18015.
