Margaret Simon Obituary
Simon, Margaret Margaret "Peg" Simon May 9, 1932- August 20, 2104. Peg left this world on August 20. She was sitting in a comfortable chair with her dog on her lap talking with her sister on the phone when she experienced cardiac arrest. Peg was born May 9, 1932 in Catasauqua to the late Joseph and Mary Hudy. She has two sisters, Elaine Campbell and Marianne Lange. From childhood, she took voice lessons and was a soloist with many local bands. She used her talent to be crowned Miss Lehigh Valley and finalist to Miss Pennsylvania. Peg continued to sing until the time of her death. She married Curtis Zimmerman (deceased) and has two children, Judith Zimmerman and Gayle Goepfert. They had many wonderful loving years together. After Curt's death, Peg married John Simon (deceased) and was mother to his children, John David Simon and Melissa Schroeder. Together Peg and John traveled the world. Later in life, Peg had a special friendship with Bert Winzer and they enjoyed each other's company. Prior to retirement, Peg worked for the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit. Peg attended the First Presbyterian Church and was a soloist on the Chancel Choir. She volunteered at Catasauqua Thrift Shop and sometimes purchased as many treasures as she had donated. Peg was a breast cancer survivor and volunteered for Reach for Recovery. Peg was known for her unconditional loving spirit, generosity, kindness and eagerness to mentor and support others. She often remarked on feeling very blessed. All who knew her benefited from her joyous and full embrace of life. Her loving light is sorely missed.
