Phoebe Forrest Link of Foxdale Village, State College, PA and Bar Harbor, ME completed her lifes journey surrounded by her family. She was born to Dr. and Mrs. John Nevins Forrest of Tamaqua, PA on February 20, 1926. Phoebes loves in her life have been her faith, her family, education, music, poetry, children, and her friends. Her husband Robert H. Link died in 2003. Phoebe completed her graduate degree in Human Development at Penn State and did additional graduate studies at the University of Rochester and Harvard University where she was selected to be on the Deans staff and served as a proctor in Hurlburt Hall. Her professional experiences include being the Director of the YWCA Teenage Program both in Lansing, MI and Rochester, NY for six years. Following that she became an educator in the Rochester, NY school system and later in the Princeton area. In 1966 Phoebe and Bob returned to State College where she was an educator in the State College School system, enriching the lives of hundreds of children for several decades. In 1993 she received one of the highest honors, the Excellence in Education Award from the College of Education at Penn State for extraordinary contributions to education. A published authorand noted poet, she was the Director of the Youth Choir at the University Baptist Church. Since 1979 she and Bob enjoyed their summer home in Bar Harbor, ME with family and friends. Her many activities centered around the church with the Spiritual Ministry Team at the Presbyterian Church and as a trustee of the Westminster Foundation; Trustee of the Schlow Library, selected as the featured speaker at her 50th PSU class reunion, Mentor ofthe PSU Womens Leadership Initiative; CVIM, founder and first president of the Mortar Board Alumni Society, elected to the Petersen Society for outstanding service by the Board of Directors of the Human Development Alumni Society, featured author on TV series of the Writing Life, Founder and first Chairman of the poetry division of the Arts Festival, member of Phi Delta Kappa, Tau Phi Sigma, Mortar Board, and Omicron Nu. Survivors: Her family includes her son, David, his wife, Anne and their children, David and Eric of Falls Church, VA; and her daughter, Anne, her husband, Bob and their children, William and Matthew of Concord, MA. Other family members are her brother, Dr. John Nevins Forrest and his wife, Catherine of New Haven, CT; and her sister, Mary and her husband, Dr. Calvin Garber who reside in Webster, NY. Also surviving are 10 nieces and nephews. Services: Memorial Services will be held at the State College Friends Meeting, 611 E.
