Richard E. Davis Obituary
Davis, Richard E.Richard Elmer Davis, of Center Valley, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in Valley Manor Nursing Home, Coopersburg. Dick was born February 18, 1924 in Otego, NY and was the husband of the late Dorothy (Goebeler) Davis. They were married on April 10, 1949, and had been married for over 50 years when Dot passed away. He was the son of the late Elmer and Evelyn (Nickerson) Davis. Following the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Dick, along with several friends including his future brother-in-law Buster, enlisted. Dick served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He returned to Otego and graduated from Otego High School. Dick graduated from Rider College in NJ in 1952 and moved to Trenton where he and Dot started their family. He joined Price Waterhouse in New York City as an accountant. Mr. Davis joined Mack Trucks in Somerville, NJ and transferred to the Allentown Headquarters in 1969. Dick and Dot moved the family to Center Valley in 1970. He joined Faith UCC Church where he and Dot were very active. Dick served as Treasurer, Elder, and Deacon, and was a member of the Lawn Crew and the "Kitchen Krew". Dick was manager of the World Headquarters Marketing and Accounting Department when he retired from Mack Trucks in 1987. After retiring he remained active, working for Endata, Abel's Express, and Ruhe Oldsmobile. Survivors: Children: Marilyn Davis and her husband Robert Passikoff, Barbara Davis, Nancy (Davis) Schantz and her husband Dwayne, Richard Davis and his wife Sandy (Freed); Grandchildren: Nicole (Schantz) Gasda and her husband Brian, Stephen Kenion, Rachel Kenion-Hanrath and her husband Tobias Hanrath, Benjamin Passikoff, Christopher Cupchak, David Kenion, Alexander Passikoff, Crystal Davis; Great grandchildren: Charlotte Gasda, Max Hanrath, and a great granddaughter is due in June 2014; Sister: Roberta Colley and her husband A. Gordon "Don"; Brother-in-law: Duane Scofield. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by his sisters Alta Smith and her husband Ralph "Buster"; and Isabel Scofield; and by his brother Donald and his wife Elizabeth (Griffin).
