I was 10 years old when Ducky came up with the Boston Braves. He was my hero (and every boy's hero, PA.in Trumbauersville and Quakertown PA.
In grade school, during World War I,
we were all asked to wtite to to a serviceman. I wrot to Ducky. I think he was at Indiantown Gap and he answered my letter.
Later, when he was managing a farm team in Maryland, he gave a few local boys the opportunity to play a few games with a professional team. They were thrilled. Great memories. We are cousins, once removed. [email protected]
