William J. Guffy
William J. Guffy, 87, of Easton died December 27. He was a graduate of Easton HS and Philadelphia Textile Institute. He had been president and co-owner of Nu-Quaker Dyeing and Finishing in Wilson and president and secretary of Quaker State Dyeing and Finishing. He served in the Navy on the Destroyer Escort USS James E. Craig during WWII. He was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Century Club, Green Pond Country Club, life member of Phi Psi Fraternity and one of the original members of the Mizs Rejects golf league. Survivors: His wife of 61 years the former Alice Fratscher; children, William J.R. and wife Brenda, James C. and wife Maureen, Alisa Penn and husband Robert, Gina Welty and husband Robert, Jr.; brothers, Alex S., Charles all of Easton; sisters, Rose M. Ruppert of Bath, Lucy Haslam of Richboro; five grandchildren, Jenna and Marissa Guffy, Robert Welty, III, Dr. Karen Troxell, Andrew Swavely; and great-grandson, Ryder Troxell. He was predeceased by sisters, Angelina Male, Susan DHuyvetters and Ann Harrison. Services: Funeral Mass to be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Easton with visitation 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Arrangements: Ashton Funeral Home, Easton Contributions: To Northampton Cty. dear alice, billy and family. my brother, scott just informed me about big bill. my sincere condolences to you all. i always considered all of you my extended family. sorry for all the trouble billy and i caused big bill like stealing his martini's and minor damage to one pontiac. again, my thoughts and prayers will be with you all, always.
