William J. Rauenzahn Obituary
Rauenzahn, William J.William James Rauenzahn, 67, of Bethlehem, PA, lost his battle with brain cancer on Tuesday, May 6, at home surrounded by family. Bill, son of the late Richard Paul and Frances Joan (Matson) Rauenzahn, was born on October 19, 1946, in the Bronx, NY. He travelled the country for much of his childhood, as he grew up in a military family. After moving to PA, he graduated from Reading Senior High School in 1965, and then Penn State University with an Associates Degree in Engineering in 1967. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines where he served as an M.P. during the Vietnam War from 1967-1969. Bill worked at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the bridge unit. He was a bridge & structural design supervisor. A first date at the Mansard Inn in Catasauqua in 1979 changed his life forever. A young woman named Jean with her 2 beautiful daughters Sheri Lynn, 5 years old, and Kristen Marie, 2 years old, stole his heart. In 1982 Bill & Jean married, and together had daughter Aimee Sue in 1983. Bill was a proud member of Central Moravian Church where he served as an usher and a member of the putz committee. A man of few words, Bill was very family oriented, loved the outdoors, music, photography and could fix anything with either duct tape or a metal coat hanger. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, pets and vacationing at the beach. He loved baking in the sun as evidenced by his great tan every year. He will be greatly missed. Survivors: Bill is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter & son-in-law, Sheri & DJ Geis Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter & son-in-law, Kristen & Steve Hrusovsky of Bethlehem, PA; daughter & son-in-law, Aimee & Mike Kipila Jr. of Bethlehem, PA; 3 siblings, sister, Sandra Henry-Stocker of Star Tannery, VA; brother, Daniel Rauenzahn of Birdsboro, PA; sister, Joanne Rauenzahn of San Jose, CA; and 5 grandsons, Leo, Jacob, Owen, Reese & Isaac. We are blessed to have such fond memories of our husband, father, papaw and brother. Services: A memorial service organized by Pearson Funeral Home will be held on Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. in the Old Chapel, Central Moravian Church, followed by a reception in the Christian Education Building. Church Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018, or St. Luke's Hospice, c/o Development Office, 801 Ostrum Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
