William Lawson
William Lawson, many were greatly saddened to learn of the passing of William Lawson, who died in a car accident on Saturday, July 13, 2013. Reports of this loss have appeared in many local media outlets and moving tributes to Bills legacy have been received. Bill Lawson was born in Wilmington, DE in 1934. He was a 1951 graduate of Wilmington High School and a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Bill was a graduate of Springfield College and received his M.A. from Westfield State College. He resided in Easton, PA and Rehoboth Beach, DE. Bill coached a variety of sports during his 37 year career at Lafayette College, primarily Swimming and Mens Lacrosse. Bill retired from Lafayette in 2002 and continued his coaching career as a volunteer Mens Lacrosse Coach at Lafayette and Lehigh University. He was presently volunteering as an assistant mens lacrosse coach at DeSales University. Survivors: Bill and his wife Peggy celebrated 53 years of marriage in June of 2013. He is also survived by his children, Christine Lawson Hastings, her husband, David and their children Lydia and Wills, and Glenn Lawson, his wife Martha and their children Sidney, Griffin and Jack. Services: A private burial is planned at Arlington National Cemetery. A community gathering in celebration of Bills life will follow in early fall. A model of integrity, character and good humor for generations of men and women who were privileged to have called him coach. What you have taught us will remain with us forever.
