On Friday, June 13, 2014, Beulah Irene Cox met her Savior face to face. Beulah was 85 years old. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park. Memorial services will be on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel with Steve Baker officiating. Beulah was born on February 28, 1929 on the family farm outside Nimrod, Texas to Oad and Elizabeth Carver. She was a graduate of Rising Star High School. Beulah married Thurman Cox on August 2, 1947. They lived in Rising Star, Texas for a few years before moving to Jal, New Mexico when Thurman went to work for El Paso Natural Gas and then on to Denver City, Texas. While in Denver City, Beulah earned her BA degree in Education from the College of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico. The family also lived in Gallup, New Mexico and then Kermit, Texas where she and Thurman retired and lived for many years before moving to Midland. Beulah also earned her Masters of Education in Reading at the University of Texas Permian Basin. Beulah taught in the public school system for 25 years and served faithfully in the Sunday school rooms of many Baptist churches for 50 years, sharing her love and knowledge of Jesus Christ with young and old alike. She and Thurman shared 66 years of happy marriage together before Thurman went home in May of this year. Beulah is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Brent Newman, her granddaughter, Lindsey, her grandson, Jeff, and his wife, Emily, all of Cedar Park, Texas. She is also survived by her brother James Carver of Desoto, Texas and many nieces and nephews scattered across the states of Texas and New Mexico. The family asks in lieu of flowers that memorials be sent to the Crestview Baptist Church Building Fund, Midland, Texas.
