Larry Jess Cross passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013. He was born on May 28, 1946 to W.A. and Faye Cross in Lamesa, Texas. He was married to Monte Kay Cross for 36 years. Larry graduated from Midland High School. He was a captain in the US Army, served in Vietnam, and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal. He returned to Midland and spent several years working in the oilfield and was later part owner of C and W Mud Company. To his family, Larry was known as a " Man's Man". He loved to hunt, fish, and ride motorcycles. He had a pilot's license and enjoyed flying all over the country. He always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger. He was a master of one line humor. Larry was a faithful member of Calvary Chapel West Texas and loved his church family dearly. His parents and one brother, Bo Cross, preceded him in death. Larry is survived by his wife, Monte Kay Cross, daughter, Kari Underhill and her husband, David of Marble Falls, sons, Clayton Cross of Chicago, IL and Clinton Cross and his wife Chrystal of Midland, grandchildren, Josh Underhill and wife, Jennifer, of Murfreesboro, TN, Meagan Underhill of San Angelo, Keith and Collin Cross of Midland, his brother, Fred Cross and wife, Carol, two sisters, Lana Ordesch and husband, Ed, and Connie Simone and husband, Greg, along with loving Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nephews, and Nieces. Mr. Cross will be in state from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Saturday, August 24. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 25, at Sylvester Baptist Church in Sylvester, Texas with Jerry Vincent, officiating. Interment will follow at Newman Cemetery in Sylvester.
