R.W. "Whitey" Harrington, 86, of Odessa passed away November 29, 2012 in Abilene Texas. He was born July 27, 1926 to Rice W. and Martha Glover in Palo Pinto County, Texas. He was active in the First Baptist Church of Odessa where he served as a deacon and sang in the adult choir. He was also active in Boy Scouts, Rotary, the Gideons, and Trailer Town Travelers. He served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II, participating in the liberation of the Philippines. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Edith, son, Rice Harrington and 1 brother, Jim Harrington. He is survived by his daughter, Sara Moak and husband, Barry of Abilene Texas; sister, Martha L. Eggleston of Devine, Texas, two grandchildren, Corrie Moak of Abilene, Texas, and Evan Moak of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Frank W. Wilson. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2012 at First Baptist with Rev. Curtis Brewer officiating. The family wishes to thank Dr. Charles Fuller and the staff of Wisteria Place for their care and attention during the last months of Whitey's life. Memorials may be directed to the Boy Scouts of America, Gideons, or Rotary International. Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
