Robert McVey, Jr., 75, of Somerville, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 in Bryan, Texas. Robert was born in Dallas, Texas on January 24, 1937, the son of the late Robert McVey, Sr. and Leva Clarice (Morrison) McVey. Robert attended Carter Riverside High in Fort Worth, TX and graduated from the University of Texas with a Petroleum Engineering degree. He received his Masters Degree from North Texas State. He worked for many years in the oilfields throughout Texas and also in Indonesia, China, Canada, Alaska, Colorado, Montana and New Mexico. He retired in 2006 after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Hallie (Cleveland) McVey; two sons: Mike and Tim McVey of Dallas, TX; daughter, Linda Hardin and husband, Gary, of Katy, TX; brother, Jim McVey and wife, Beverly, of Taylor, TX; sister, Judy Wilson and husband, Bob, of Hamilton, TX; two grandsons: Wes Hardin of Little Rock, AR and Blake Hardin of Katy, TX; two granddaughters: Christa Curry of Las Vegas, NV and Sydney McVey of Dallas, TX; three great granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
