Samuel Garland White, Sr. passed from this life on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at home after a long and courageous battle with heart disease and cancer. He was born June 1, 1931 in the Browser Community near Richland Springs, Texas to Ross and Margie White. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carl (Billie), Maurice (Mae), and Weston (Cleo); and by three sisters, Lula (Orville) Beakley, Leoma (Luther) Holder, and Maurine (Bill) Boulware. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geneva McKinnerney White; one son, Samuel Garland White, Jr.; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He graduated from Richland Springs High School in 1948 and married Geneva McKinnerney on December 22, 1950 in Rochelle, Texas. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954. After his military service, he completed his formal education at Texas A&M University graduating with an Agriculture degree in 1957. He spent his entire career in the poultry industry living in several locations throughout Texas and Missouri. He retired in 1995 and moved to Midland, Texas to be near his son and assist him in his nursery business. He was a long time member of the Church of Christ. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 4:00 p. m. -6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel, with Bill Adcox officiating. Graveside services will be on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Richland Springs Cemetery.
