Charles Lewis Hamlin

Jefferson, GA- Charles Lewis Hamlin, age 88, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on January 26, 2014. Services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Macon Memorial Park Chapel. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Ed Chambless of Mikado Baptist Church, will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
Charles, a native of Bibb County was born in 1925 and was the only child of the late Charlie Hubbard Hamlin and Daisy Hardy Hamlin. He was educated in the Bibb County Schools and graduated from Lanier High School for Boys in 1943.
Charles and his wife, Lurlene formerly lived on 2901 Allen Rd, Macon, GA. Charles was a veteran of the 20th US Army Air Force during World War II in the Pacific theater as a Tail Gunner on B-29s flying missions over Japan based in the Marianas Islands and Okinawa. Charles participated in multiple bombing missions and later POW supply drops as the war ended.
Charles was a long and faithful member of the Mikado Baptist Church and a member of the Harvester's Sunday school class. He served his Lord faithfully as an usher, greeter, deacon, and committee chairman.
Charles worked with the Macon, Dublin and Savannah Railroad for several years and later was employed at Robins Air Force Base where he retired as a specialist in the Directorate of Distribution.
Charles is survived by Lurlene, his wife of 65 years of Jefferson Georgia; daughter, Gail and son-in-law Frank Mosuch of Jefferson Georgia; two granddaughters, Kristen Mosuch of Alexandria Virginia: Heather and husband Alex Stephenson of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland and three great grandchildren Grace, Jack and Harper Stephenson.
