George Edward McClendon
January 14, 1923 - August 10, 2014
Macon , GA- George E. McClendon was born January 14, 1923 to Elijah, Sr. and Georgia Mae Fish-McClendon. He served his country as a member of the US Army in the Korean War, where he received a purple heart for being wounded in the leg during combat. He married Evelyn Hall McClendon on July 27, 1952. From that union came nine children, six boys and three girls. Through his hard work, he built his own television and radio repair business. He served the Lord at Stewart Chapel AME church from his arrival in Macon until his death. Preceeded in death by his son Wayne Alan McClendon, George leaves to mourn his passing his Wife Evelyn, his children Daniel E. McClendon Sr., George Harrold McClendon, Janis E. McClendon-Howard, Mallary C. McClendon, Phyllis J. McClendon Howard (Gerald), Timothy E. McClendon, Anthony J. McClendon (Shirley), and Susan McClendon-Dudgeon (Kenneth). In addition to his children, his brother Robert McClendon, Sr. (Otha), 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. A Memorial Celebration will be held on Friday August 15, 2014 at 1:00PM at Stewart Chapel AME Church 887 Forsyth St. Macon, GA 31202. Services entrusted to Bentley & Sons Funeral Home, Macon.
