J. D. "Dixie" Walker
Carrollton, GA- J.D. "Dixie" Walker, age 87 of Carrollton, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014.
He was born October 03, 1926 in Roopville to the late Mr. Reuel Walker and Mrs. Eunice Lee Walker. He graduated from Berry College and later served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He proudly worked for Southern Bell for over 30 years and retired back to his home in Carroll County. He was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Smith Walker; and three brothers, Joseph Walker, Herman Walker and Reuben Walker.
Survivors include his children, Tony Walker, David Walker and Carol Walker; siblings, Sandra Worley, Helen Price, Judy Powers, Dan Walker, Edward Walker, Fannie Lee Holloway, and Audrey Spearman; and grandchildren, Adam Walker, Jason Walker, Rebecca Kelleher, Lauren Callahan, and Spencer Callahan; and great-grandchildren, Sarah Kate Walker, Ethan Walker, Anna Ruth Walker, Samuel Walker, and newborn twins Raelyn and Ryleigh Kelleher.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel located at 1312 South Park Street, Carrollton, GA 30117. Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, July 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM from Tabernacle Baptist Church located at 150 Tabernacle Drive, Carrollton, GA 30117. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Garden. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church Building Fund.
