Gray, GA- John Williams Hamrick, 63, of Oliver Greene Road, died Friday, April 26, 2013. The family will welcome visitors from 2:00 - 3:00pm at Sunshine United Methodist Church in Round Oak. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm, graveside in the church cemetery. Rev. Ricky Varnell will officiate the services.
Mr. Hamrick was born on December 22, 1949, and was a lifelong resident of Jones County. The son of the late Ed. S. Hamrick and Mary Ann Williams Hamrick, he was a graduate of Jones County High School, Young Harris College and of the University of Georgia, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Mr. Hamrick was the co-owner of Hamrick Builders and Supply, Inc. in Gray for thirty-six years. John was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and truly loved the land. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hamrick was preceded in death by his brother: Carlton Grady Hamrick; and by his grandparents: Carl and Carrie Williams and Grady and Ethel Hamrick.
Mr. Hamrick is survived by his daughters: Mary Lauren and Kady; son-in-law: Jacob; sister and brother-in-law: Anne and Jimmy Trawick; sister-in-law: Beth Hamrick; and by his grandchildren: John and Josie. John was loved by so many and will be sincerely missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to either Sunshine United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Andrea Crutchfield, 118 Jackson Road, Round Oak, Georgia 31038 or to Gray United Methodist Church Building Fund, 117 South Jefferson Street, Gray, Georgia 31032.
