Lillian Magnolia Stenson

Columbus, GA- Ms. Lillian Magnolia Stenson, 79, of 6045 North Pointe Dr., Columbus, Georgia died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Johhny Flakes III pastor officiating. Interment will follow in New Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, LaGrange, GA according to Sconiers Funeral Home, 836 5th Ave., Columbus, GA.
Ms. Stenson was born April 28, 1933 in Omaha, Georgia; the daughter of the late Rev. Marshall and Everell Matilda Stenson. Ms. Stenson was educated in the public school system of Troup County. she graduated from East Depot High School. Lillian excelled in mathematics and received a scholarship to attend Clark College (Clark Atlanta University) in Atlanta, Georgia where she obtained her Bachelor's degree. She completed her graduate studies at The University of Georgia and Columbus College (Columbus State University) where she received her Master's degree in Education. She retired from Ft. Benning Dependent Schools in 1999 after dedicating her life to children for 46 years. Mrs. Stenson was a member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church for 40 years.
She leaves to cherish and honor her beautiful life her daughter, Amy Elizabeth Stenson of Columbus, GA; three sisters, Ethel Stargill of LaGrange, GA; Matilda and John Rouse of Decatur, GA; Dorothy and Walter Stephens of Chattanooga, TN; three brothers, Rev. Marshall and Mary Stenson of Macon, GA; Rev. Howard and Racine Stenson of Gallatin, TN; Rev. Michael and Dorothy Stinson of LaGrange Stenson of LaGrange, GA; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Ms. Stenson was my 6th grade teacher.
I was looking her up to go visit her.
Never would I have thought I'd be writing a message to her in heaven. God
Bless you Ms. Stenson you were a big
influence in my life. I have spoke your name a many of times over the years.
Mostly about how you pushed us to learn in the 6th grade. Oh how I wished
I had a chance to tell you what you meant to me. I loved you and will never
ever forget what you taught me. God bless you and may you rest in peace.

I will forever cherish the memories of my aunt, which are so many. She was an instrumental influence in my pursuit of education. When I was a kid I loved the time I spent at her house during summers. She gave me my very first hammer. You will be greatly missed, Aunt Sister!!!
