O. Raymond Johnson
September 18, 1933 - May 7, 2014
Macon, GA- Oscar Raymond Johnson, passed away on May 7, 2014, at the age of 80. Raymond is lovingly remembered by his daughters and son-in-laws, Kim (Gene) Skotzko and Carey (Jimmy) Fagan, sisters; Charlotte Moody and Ellen (Buck) Haygood, brothers; Aldiene (June) and Eugene (Patsy) Johnson, grandsons; Greg (Natalie) and Andrew Skotzko and numerous family members and friends.
Raymond was born to Ethel and Bernard Johnson in Bibb County, GA. He graduated from Lanier High School and married his high school sweetheart, Mary. He then received his undergraduate degree from Mercer University and graduate degree from the University of Georgia. Raymond was a dedicated civil servant and worked for both the Department of Defense and Federal Aviation Administration as a computer programmer/cost analyst. He was a skilled craftsman and also enjoyed music and singing in church choirs. He was devoted to his family and church and loved the fellowship that it afforded him and Mary for so many years.
The Celebration of his Life will be held at First Baptist Church of Christ, 511 High Place, Macon on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Minister Scott Dickison presiding. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 11, 2014, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3969 Mercer University Drive, Macon GA. Flowers are welcome or donations in his memory may be made to First Baptist Church of Christ, Memorial Fund, 511 High Place, Macon GA 31201.
