Robert B. Huellemeier, Sr.
June 27, 1919 - July 20, 2013
Macon, GA- Robert "Bob" B. Huellemeier, Sr., 94, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013. A Funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Father Dawid Kwiatkowski will officiate. Burial will follow at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. A rosary will be said on Thursday, July 25, 2013, from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry St. The family will receive friends following the rosary. The family may be contacted at the residence of Steve Huellemeier. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount De Sales Academy, Music Department, 851 Orange St., Macon GA 31201.
Mr. Huellemeier was born in Cincinnati, OH to the late John A. and Theresa Feldkamp Huellemeier. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ilah Stone Huellemeier. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Bob was best known in Macon as the Band Leader of the Bob Huellemeier Orchestra. Over the past sixty years, he played for the Bon Hommes, Moose Club, St. Joseph's Catholic Church Silver Tops, as well as weddings, civic functions and Cherry Blossom. He was the 1997 receipt of the Ray Melton Music Man Award, presented by the Atlanta Society of Entertainers. He played actively to the age of 93. Bob was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He was a member of the American Legion Post 3, and Macon Moose Club. He coached little league baseball at Ocmulgee for a number of years. He served on the Board of Directors of the Local Musicians Union. Bob was retired after thirty eight years of service from Robins Air Force Base.
He is survived by his children, Bobby (Susan) Huellemeier of Macon, Steve Huellemeier of Macon, Jennifer H. (Lawrence) Grosberg of Huntsville, AL, and Jerry Huellemeier of Milledgeville, seven grandchildren, Casey and Taylor Huellemeier, Walter Huellemeier, Erin (Joseph) White, Leah Huellemeier, Bryan and Greg Grosberg, and two great grandchildren, Jay and Drew White and a sister, Elaine (Jim) Day of Dayton, OH.
