William L. "Bill" Jackson, Sr.
April 4, 1925 - March 4, 2014
Macon, GA- William L. "Bill" Jackson, Sr., age 88, passed away peacefully after a short illness surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born in McRae to the late Leonard and Mittie Worsham Jackson. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 57 years, Nell Hagin Jackson, who he called his soul mate and the love of his life as well as his 3 siblings; Ollie Lee Helms, Roy Jackson, and Henry Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army where he fought for his country in France during W.W.II, was injured and spent several months in an English hospital, and was later awarded the Purple Heart. He retired from Robins A.F.B. after 41 years of service.
He is survived by his 3 children; Brenda (Earl) Greene of Perry, William "Len" Jackson, Jr. of Byron, and Beth Middleton of Macon as well as 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 P.M. Friday at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 8, 2014 in the Chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with interment to follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The Reverend Jimmy Corbitt will officiate.
