Alfred Albert Rudolf

MANSFIELD: Alfred Albert Rudolf, age 91, of Mansfield passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 in Liberty Care Center following a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

He was born July 4, 1922 in Germany the son of Karl and Elsa (Schnavel) Rudolf.

Alfred and his wife Kathe (Stingle) Rudolf, along with their children, journeyed to Canada following the war. They eventually made their home in Michigan where Alfred worked at Ford Motor Company, and relocated to Mansfield seeking work at the General Motors Fisher Body Plant in Ontario. Alfred retired from GM with over 30 years of service as a tool and die maker.

Alfred served in the German Navy on a submarine. He continued camaraderie with his fellow veterans as a member of the German American Submarine Club. The group met in locations all over the world "swapping stories and drinking beer."

Though there was rarely time outside of work, Alfred enjoyed his garden, putting out a small crop every year. He was also a talented craftsman, having built their family home in Germany before the war.

He is survived by his son Kenny Rudolf of Mansfield; grandchildren Phil (Amy) Dinger, Sarah Dinger (Bob Anderson), Anna (Jeremy) Thompson, Noah Dinger, Emma Lezak, Nick Lezak, Kenneth (Lori) McKee, and Casey Owens; numerous great grandchildren.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Kathe Rudolf on February 8, 2013 and his daughter Jenny Rudolf.

A memorial service will be Friday, July 19, 2013 at 4 pm at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the family will receive friends the hour prior, from 3-4 pm.
