Anthony R. Buzenski

MANSFIELD: Anthony "Tony" R. Buzenski, 87 of Mansfield passed away January 23, 2013 at MedCentral Health System.

Tony was the son of Clementine and Alexander Bozymski. He was a member of St. Peter's Parish and graduated in 1943 from St. Peter's High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in October 1943 and was awarded two battle stars for action at Saipan and Okinawa. He was also in China to repatriate the Japanese home. Discharged in 1946, Tony went to work at the Mansfield Tire & Rubber Company, where he worked for 37 years and retired from Anchor Swan in Bucyrus, Ohio. Tony was a big sports fan. He played semi-pro football with the Mansfield Rangers, played and managed a few softball teams and managed in the Northwest Little League. A highlight of his coaching career was coaching the Bucyrus American Legion team to a city league championship in the Babe Ruth League with a 17-4 record in 1981.

Tony was a member of the American Legion Post 16, past member of the VFW and 63 year member of the Knights of Columbus #687. He was a 4th Degree Knight since 1965, serving as a Grand Knight at one point. Tony was also a member of Owls Nest 1152 where he thoroughly enjoyed going every morning to read the paper and enjoy a Bloody Mary / coffee. Tony was also an usher at the 7:30 am Mass at St. Peter's for many, many years.

In 1949 Tony married Betty Lou Blake, whom he was married to for 59 years. He is survived by his three daughters, Belinda Chiu of Fairbanks, Alaska, Cindy Meenach and Valerie Todd McKelvey both of Mansfield; grandchildren Angela and Tony in Fairbanks, Alaska, Amy in Brunswick, Maine, Tennelle Jones in Columbus and Derek (Jodie) Fike, Chris Todd and Joey Todd all in Mansfield. Tony is also survived by 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Jenny Wala and Eileen Bozymski, both of Mansfield; three brothers, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Valentine (Barb) Bozymski of Indianapolis, Eddie (Kris) Bozymski of Westerville, and Dr. Eugene (Mary Kay) Bozymski of North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lou, and three infant children Victoria Joy, Blake Anthony, and Anthony Alexander.

Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Friday from 5 - 8pm with a vigil service at 5pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00am Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Tom McQuillen officiating. Military honors will follow the mass provided by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
