Beryl G. Hall

BUTLER: Beryl G. Hall, 87, of Butler passed away Tuesday evening, October 22, 2013 at home on his farm, surrounded by his loving family.

The son of Guy and Charlotte (Darr) Hall, Beryl was born February 5, 1926 in Greer, Ohio. No stranger to hard work, as a boy Beryl worked alongside his father logging timber. Once Beryl was of age he joined the Army. Serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII, he was honorably discharged in 1946.

On September 24, 1949 he married Rose Mary Oswalt. As a young man Beryl worked for GL Rogers as a mechanic and truck driver.

Content and hard working, Beryl was born to be a farmer. In 1954 he moved to what is now the Hall family farm located in northern Knox County. Breathing, eating and sleeping farming, it encompassed his life. In 1968 he purchased the farm where he has worked the land and raised animals for the last 59 years. With over 200 acres of tillable farmland, Beryl grew corn, wheat, oats, soy beans, hay and alfalfa. A dairy farmer as well he also raised cattle, horses and chickens.

Beryl loved to hunt coon and deer and trapped small game. A great gardener, he enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden.

A John Deere enthusiast, Beryl was also an avid collector of John Deere tractors.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Rose Mary Hall of Butler; children Connie (Steven) Kauffman of Glenmont, and Debra (Robert) Schaub of Butler, Bradley Hall of Butler, and Brenda Booth of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister Kathleen Franks of Perrysville; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Lori Lynn and siblings Bernice Stanger, Lucille Wright, Earl Hall and Merl Hall.

A memorial gathering will be held Monday, October 28, 2013 from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where military honors performed by the Bellville American Legion Post #535 will begin at 4 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family prefer memorial contributions to the or Heartland Hospice be made through the funeral home.
