MANSFIELD: Cecil M. Wells, 82, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at his residence. Born February 11, 1932 in Olive Hill, Kentucky, he was the son of Charles Wilson and Bertha Mae (Jarvis) Wells.
He moved to the Mansfield area around the age of 17 and retired from Mansfield Plating after 54 years of service. A veteran of the United States Navy he served during the Korean War. Known as a "Jack of all Trades", Cecil helped with everything around the house with the exception of plumbing. He enjoyed fishing and traveling to Kentucky to visit family.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virginia (Gilvin) Wells; two daughters, Joni (Don) Trimble of Wooster and Vicki Hammac of Florida; two granddaughters, Kristina Vassel and Nickole Glover both of Florida; two great grandchildren, Jadon and Alyssa; numerous nieces and nephews; and a brother, Jim (Joy) Wells of Mansfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Taul Funeral Home, 109 East Main Street, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky with calling one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.
