Charles L. (Chuck) Michalski

MONTICELLO,IN: Charles died at his residence after an extended illness.

Chuck attended elementary school at St. Peters & St. Mary Catholic School and junior senior high at St. Peters Catholic School in Mansfield, OH. He entered military on November 9th, 1954. Chuck was a member of the United States Navy and served on the Carrier Oriskiney as a navigator on patrol flights in the San Diego area and over the Pacific. He also served on the Yorktown. Chuck was awarded a Good Conduct Ribbon and a Korean Service Ribbon. He was discharged in August of 1958 returning to Mansfield, OH, where he met and married his wife Margaret in July of 1961. He began his career in Sales with the Tappan Stove Company, followed by Cardinal Vending and United Technology and retiring as Vice President of Sales & Marketing for the Emerson Electric, the White Rodgers Division. After retirement he had a small sales rep company with his son Matt, for about 10 years and then retired to his boat and service organizations which he enjoyed greatly. Chuck was Life Member of the VFW Post 2231 and served as Commander for 3 years. He served as a member of the Honor Guard Funeral Detail, representing the VFW for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #81 as well as a member of the 40 & 8 club. He enjoyed a position on the scholarship board. Chuck was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6955. He volunteered for the Sunday Bingo Nights. He Loved fishing, hunting and outdoor activities and nature. His joy of feeding and watching birds has been a life long pleasure that he enjoyed both at home and during his many travels both business and pleasure. His greatest pride and joy was in his grandchildren, watching them play on the lake and enjoying the boat and the water as he did. Tales of him being a bit tough on the tubers & skier's when he was at the helm of the boat.

Survivors include: Wife, Margaret E. "Marge" Michalski of Monticello, IN; Daughter, Stephanie Patacsil of West Lafayette, IN; Sons, Vincent Michalski of Brandon, FL, and Matthew "Matt" Michalski of Monticello, IN; Grandchildren, Samuel Starbuck, Maxwell Michalski, Morgan Michalski, Lucas Michalski, Joseph Dominic Patacsil, and Jackson Michalski; Sisters, Joan Piascik of Mansfield, OH, and Rita Knapp of Indianapolis, IN; Eight (8) Nieces; Seven (7) Nephews.

Preceded in death by Parents, S.J. & Elizabeth (Winegartner) Michalski; Brother, Robert Michalski;1 Nephew.

Funeral Date: Monday, February 25, 2013

Funeral Location: 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds, IN.

Clergy: Father John Cummins

Burial will take place at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Full Military Rites by the Monticello Honor Guard. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home in Monticello. Rosary Services will be at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the funeral home.
