Dixie L. Weideman

SPRINGFIELD, IL: Dixie L. Weideman, 71, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Lees Summit, MO and Mansfield, OH, died Monday, July 21, 2014 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

She was born March 18, 1943 in Mansfield, OH to Raymond and Betty (Charlton) Jacobs.

Dixie was married to Ruben L. Weideman for 46 years; he preceded her in death on March 15, 2014.

Dixie graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in the class of 1961 and received an Associate's Degree in Accounting at North Central Technical College.

She served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War and was employed as an Accountant for Sprint Telephone Company.

Dixie was a member of the Elks Club in Lexington, OH and enjoyed bowling, golfing, genealogy research, spending time with her Red Hat Club, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Dixie was also an avid blood donor to the American Red Cross.

Surviving is son, Roger Weideman of Kenosha, WI; daughter, Deanna Weideman of O'Fallon, MO; half brothers, Jerry McCord and Donald Jacobs; and two half sisters, Susan (McCord) Payne and Merle (George) Heninger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ruben; and sister, Judy (McCord) Estep.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Rittman, OH 44270. Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman, OH 44270.
