Dolores Ann Ybarra

MANSFIELD: Dolores Ann Ybarra, age 68, of Mansfield, died Monday, April 28, 2014, at Wade Park Veterans Hospital in Cleveland, following a period of declining health.

Dolores was born on April 30, 1945, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Manuel and Antonia (Darce) Ybarra. She graduated from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in 1966 and served as a First Lieutenant in the Army during the Vietnam War. She received a bachelor's degree from Wright State and then served as a Captain in the Air Force for four years. She received a Master's Degree from Michigan University, and worked in nursing in Dayton and Ashland. She finished her working career as a state nursing inspector for long term care facilities, retiring in the 1980s.

Dolores was a member of Catholic Church and enjoyed crafts, sewing, and reading.

Surviving are two sisters, Cecilia (David) Edwards of Mansfield, and Ernestine Phelps of TX; a brother, Manuel Ybarra of OK; and two nephews, Dale Gordon (Sara) Edwards of Sunbury, and Anthony (Tristina) Phelps of LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a nephew, Michael Phelps.

Graveside services with military rites will be held at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with Fr. Steve Moran officiating. There will be no public calling hours. Auble-Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman is handling the arrangements.
