Eddie Arnold Boggs

TOLEDO: Eddie Arnold Boggs, age 68 passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 in Sylvania, OH. The son of Elmer and Pearl Boggs, he was born August 10, 1945 in Soldier, KY.

He graduated from Mansfield Senior High and graduated with a Bachelors degree from Ohio State University. He taught at Pioneer in Shelby, Ohio. Eddie moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1972 and attended the University of Toledo and received two Masters Degrees. He was a social studies teacher and later a guidance counselor. During his 35 years as an educator, he also enjoyed sharing his love of music.

After retiring from Sylvania schools in 2007 he became a licensed tour guide leading tours to Washington D.C. often by school groups and other destinations. He also performed nationally with New Christy Minstrels.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Chris Boggs; daughters Allison Boggs, Sara (John) Roemer, and Grace Barton; grandchildren Landon, Jackson, Kate, Grant, and Nola; mother, Pearl Boggs; sister, Tina Obney, of Mansfield, OH; brothers, Carl (Mary Lee) Boggs, Memphis TN, Verlin (Susie) Boggs, Kokomo, IN, and Glenn (Peggy) Boggs of Bellville, OH.

Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Boggs and sister, Virginia Ruth Nickles.

Visitation was held Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Walker Funeral Home in Sylvania. Funeral services were held Monday, January 13, 2014 at Flanders Road Church of Christ in Toledo. Burial January 14, 2014 at Franklin Church Cemetery, Mansfield, OH.
