ASHLAND: Gerald E. Neff, Sr., 88, of Ashland, died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Ohio Veteran's Home in Sandusky.
Born November 10, 1924 in Parkersburg, WV, he was the son of Margaret and Donald Neff, Sr.
Gerald was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Cyclops (AK) Steel in 1978. He was a member of the Untied Steel Workers Union #169, American Legion, Eagles Club, and a lifetime member of the VFW. Gerald was a former resident of Florida, living in Zephyrhills, enjoyed watching sports, walking in nature, and spending time and talking with his wife of 58 years, Betty.
He is survived by his sons, David (Joan) Neff of Ashland and Gary Neff of Mansfield; daughter, Joyce Frust of Texas; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Pat Willis of Beach City, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. (Pratt) Neff; son, Gerald E. Neff, Jr.; daughter, Janet Sue Neff; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Friends may call Monday, October 14, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave., Ashland. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Will Neff. Military services conducted by the Ashland County Veterans Honor Guard will follow the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
