SHELBY: Hope M. Gwirtz, age 67, of Shelby died Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Med Central Shelby Hospital.
Hope was born July 31, 1946 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts the daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Mundy) Stehling. She was 1964 graduate of Shelby High School and was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Hope was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and knitting.
On January 16, 1970, she married Thomas L. Gwirtz and he survives along with their 4 children: Rebecca Gwirtz of Columbus, Sara (Mike) Slaven of Columbus, Brendan (Jodi) Gwirtz of Brunswick, and Katie (Bob) Moyer of Plain City; 3 grandchildren: Hailey Slaven, Aiden Slaven and Emmalyn Moyer; a brother: Bob (Shirley) Stehling of Asheville, NC. Hope was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister: Bonnie Stehling.
Friends and family are welcome on Sunday, March 2, 2014 from 2-4 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where the rosary will be recited at 4 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 29 West Street, Shelby with Father James Sanford officiating.
