MT. GILEAD: Howard A. Fuson, 80, of Mt. Gilead, died suddenly on Friday, January 3, 2014 at his home.
Howard was born in Lenoir City, TN on November 18, 1933 to the late John and Anna R. (McMillan) Fuson. He married Edaline (Farris) Fuson on October 14, 1967 and she preceded him in death on March 24, 1989. He then married Elizabeth "Betty" (Curtis) Fuson and she preceded him in death in March 2010.
Howard dedicated his life to his country serving twenty-seven years in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 until his retirement on July 31, 1979. He was a life time member of the AMVETS Post #1979 and the VFW Post #79, both of Galion. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, The Retired Enlisted Association, The Bass and North America Fishing Club, National Rifle Association and AARP. In addition to his military career and family responsibilities, Howard loved to play golf.
He is survived by his son, Kevin and Vicki Fuson of Galion; his sister, Edna and Jack Pennington of Crestline and Ray and Sundra Fuson of Ft. Meyers, FL.; five grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Kris Fuson and Howard Allen Fuson; his brothers and sisters, Frances Fuson, Ernest Fuson, Hazel Gaylon and Marie Gray.
Friends may call from 9:30 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 223 W. Main St., Crestline with Pastor Jeff Pennington officiating. Full military honors conducted by the U.S. Air Force and the Crestline/Galion veterans organizations will follow the service at the funeral home.
