James Stirp, Jr.

MANSFIELD: James Stirp, 80, of Mansfield passed away April 15, 2014 at home.

James was born November 25, 1933 in Pavonia, Ohio to James and Lucy Mosco Stirp. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and later retired from Thermodisc. James loved the outdoors especially animals and activities such as hunting, fishing, and race horses.

Survivors includes his sons Vincent J. Stirp and Rodney A. Stirp of Mansfield; granddaughters Nichole and Natalie Stirp; grandson Anthony J. Stirp; sisters Helen Walbert, Mafalda Barr, Mary Bohland, Josephine Metzer; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marcia; brothers John and Pat Stirp; sisters Viola Chillemi, Anne Elsasser, Sandra Cox.

Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Thursday from 5-7pm. A funeral service will be held 11:00am Friday at the funeral home with Deacon Terry Philpott officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Catholic Cemetery with military services provided by Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
