Kermit L. Wilson

MANSFIELD: Kermit L. Wilson, 77, passed away surrounded by his family March 6, 2014 following an extended illness.

Born December 16, 1936 in Bucyrus to Thomas J. and Eleanor (Graffius) Wilson.

Kermit is survived by his loving wife Glenna (Whitinger) Wilson whom he married on April 25, 1969; a daughter Marlise and her husband Kirk Bloir of Upper Arlington; a son Darren and his wife Lisa Wilson of Tiffin; a grandson Benjamin Bloir, and a sister Gladys Metcalf of Mansfield. Kermit is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Special among them are nephew Steve Metcalf and two great nephews Vincent Metcalf and Bryce Brooks.

Kermit graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1956.

A U.S military veteran, Kermit served in the Army from 1960 until 1962 as a military policeman in Germany during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Kermit loved all sports and especially enjoyed watching Ohio State football and basketball.

He was an avid bowler, an enthusiastic horseshoe player, and loved softball.

Kermit worked for Mansfield Tire and retired from General Motors in 1998. He made many faithful friends over his lifetime.

Of all his achievements he was most proud of his family. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a baby brother, Thomas Wilson.

Friends may call Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Monday at 11 am. Burial with military honors will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
