Melvin P. McNeely

MANSFIELD: Melvin P. McNeely, 73, of Mansfield, died Friday, March 28, 2014 at MedCentral Mansfield. Born October 28, 1940 in Mansfield, he was the son of William and Christine (Roberts) McNeely. Melvin retired from General Motors where he worked in maintenance and was a member of Owls, Sons of Herman, and American Legion. He loved to go golfing and bowling and also enjoyed traveling and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Barber) McNeely of Mansfield; sons, Scott McNeely of Riverview, FL, Michael McNeely of Florida, and Joe Barber of Mansfield; daughters, Linda (Jim) Nalley of Shreve, Penny (Roy) Howard, of Oregon, Susan (Marvin) Baird of Tennessee, and Judy Kriss of Mansfield; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Les (Janie) McNeely of Lucas and Ed (Nikki) McNeely of Mason; sisters, Mildred Tambarrino of Mansfield and Betty (Ray) Thoman of Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian McNeely; brother, William McNeely, sister, Josephine Winters; and special dog, Boomer.

Friends may call Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Alden Thibeau. Memorial contributions may be made to a .
