Michael Ryan Obituary
Michael John "Mike" Ryan

MANSFIELD: Michael John "Mike" Ryan, 67, of Mansfield, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital Hospice following a brief illness.

He was born February 28, 1947 in Mansfield to Anthony A. and Sarah Louise (Clark) Ryan.

Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the VFW Post 3494. His hobbies and interests included cars, motorcycles, home projects and shooting pool. He could fix most anything, as well as take it apart and put it back together.

Known as an all-around good guy, Mike could always be counted on to step up to the plate when nobody else would. He even served as troop leader of his daughter's Girl Scout troop. Thanks to Mike's dedication and enthusiasm, the troop that began with three girls was overflowing with scouts by the end of the year.

Mike was a selfless man who regularly performed many random acts of kindness for neighbors, friends, and even strangers, without expecting anything in return. He made and kept many friends throughout his lifetime due to his easy-going nature and kind heart. Most importantly, he was a hard-working family man who always placed his loved ones first.

Mike is survived by his wife, Pamela Jean (Vaughn) Ryan; his son, Michael Anthony Ryan; one grandson, Phillip Martin, III; four sisters, Barbara Calkins of Cincinnati, Patricia (Thomas) Kulka of Powell, Diane (David) Dolland of Galion, and Kathleen Ryan Petroff of Dallas, Texas; his mother-in-law, Margaret Vaughn; eleven nieces and nephews; four great-nieces; and one great-nephew.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Michelle Ryan Martin Miller; and his father-in-law, Ray Vaughn.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014 in Oak Grove Memorial Park, Lexington with full military honors performed by Richland Co. Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
