Paul E. Norris

CRESTLINE: Paul E. Norris, 80, of Crestline, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Mansfield Memorial Homes after a long illness.

Paul was born in Ashland on July 10, 1933 to the late Sylvester K. and Lillian M. (Cyphers) Norris. He married Wavalene B. Perman Galland on December 29, 1966 and she preceded him in death on November 8, 2010.

Paul moved from Ashland to Crestline in 1966. He was employed by General Motors in Ontario as a welder until his retirement. Paul was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. Paul was a lifetime member of VFW Post #2920, and also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #859, and American Legion Post #488 all of Crestline. Paul enjoyed woodworking and loved playing the banjo.

He is survived by his one daughter, Darlene (Keith Lacey) Galland, Bellville, his four sons; John Galland, Murfreesboro, TN, Dennis and Jane Galland, Murfreesboro, TN, Jacque and Patricia Galland, Murfreesboro, TN, Chris and Vicki Galland, Smyrna, TN, eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and a half-brother, Rodney Norris, Ashland.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Anna May Norris, his brother, Bill Norris and his sister, Dorothy Burkhart.

Friends may call Friday, May 2, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Greenlawn Cemetery with Dr. Johnny Heckard officiating. Full military honors will be given at the graveside by the U.S. Army and the Crestline/Galion Veterans Groups.
